Que Sera, Sera

As my children get older, I am simply amused at how little bits of me or H or their grandparents or their aunts and uncles have made its way in their DNA. Aside from looks, personality traits, mannerisms and habits, even a tendency to take on a profession or hobby can be handed down.

Just this year, Yellow has turned the furniture pieces around in her room twice already. I, myself used to love to do this as a little girl. I remember scanning my Mom's or grandmother's Metropolitan Home magazines or Architectural Digest and try to re-create what I see in our home. I am impressed by her last two re-arrangements and I just want to share them.
I am not one to got for built-ins especially for children's rooms which are to take on numerous changes through the years.

Yellow is lucky she has a flexible space and pieces to work with. For this one, she even measured her two book shelves to make sure they fit in the corner near her bed.

This, she said is her reading corner. I need to get her a rug though to complete it.
I like the way she angled her desk (it is so me! haha!) which she will outgrow soon.
I am proud of her. I just hope though she does not get to be too obsessive about organizing like me...but I think that's the only direction she will be going to. Poor girl. -=)

Whatever happens I just want her to be happy.

Johnny Rockets Zooms

I don't know exactly how long Johnny Rockets has been in Manila. But today was our first time to eat there. I met up with H and Blue in Eastwood Mall for lunch and when I asked Blue where he wanted to eat he said, Johnny Rockets. So off we go...

The place was screaming 1950's diner but not overdone. Of course H had to say, "Ay, parang Sam's Diner" ( A resto of a similar concept which was popular back in the 80's in Quezon City) I just had to shush him as I did not want it emphasized that we were 80's peeps. (as if it's not obvious)

     I liked its easy ambiance.
First up to play some music and H had to go for Saturday Night fever. I love it though but not in public. Har!

The waiters and waitresses were uber friendly. Ours was Sweet for the day. We liked her.

The food was very okay and you know it is well-prepared. H and I shied away from the burgers since we a trying to live healthy. =< We shared a grilled chicken sandwich and salad combo which I liked a lot.

Blue ordered chicken tenders that go with eat-all-you-can fries and a vanilla milk shake.

We had a good meal. You somehow feel that the place was set-up with you in mind and not some fancy concept or cuisine.

The staff even danced for us. No, they didn't look forced to do so. just having fun here.

The whole time I was there I kept on thinking yellow will like it here. My dad will like it here......

We definitely like it there. =-)

First Valentine

Yellow got her first ever Valentine today. Don't need to worry, yes, she is only 11 and the Valentine came from none other than H. At least Yellow can say someday that her dad was her first Valentine, as all Daddy's girls are meant to. No, not three red roses and more so not a dozen but look ye here.

It's a puppy made of white carnations. I so love our very own Rustans Flower Shop for offering this design. After all Valentine's Day is not just for couples but all shapes and kinds of relationships. Of course H did not forget me.

I love it that I have a new glass flower vase too. =-)

This is how they were delivered and a day early.

It makes me think of the other forms of luv that we may take for granted like maybe our parents, siblings, our dog, nephews, etc.  I believe everyone is aching for some Valentine on Valentine's Day.

Tomorrow I take my mom out for lunch.....HVD, everyone and to all my beloved readers!

Running 'Round in Cerchio

Cerchio in Italian means circle. This restaurant and lounge has been named such. Upon looking at its glass facade, you will know they are talking circles literally in terms of this restaurant's interiors. Designed by popular interior designer, Ivy Almario, as expected the restaurant is a feast for both the tummy and also for any discriminating eye.

Take a look at these interesting circles that adorn its front window. They are actually PVC pipes. =-)The restaurant screams mid-century modern. The structure itself used to be an old apartment.

...and the circles are taken further into the interiors.

H and I were there on a weekday and there was a good crowd of office people. We shared garlic chicken pasta, grilled shrimp and pomelo salad and a mango float. Yums! They were all good. I'm loving this place.

We had coffee with the mango float and their coffee was good.=-)

All prepared in this beautiful open kitchen.

But there is a down side. I do not like the restrooms. I love how it is done but I was notliking the layout. Male and female cubicles share one common sink area. Yep and there is no lock on the restroom door.  So it is not unlikely that you could bump into the guy on the next table. I am definitely NOT letting my kids go to the restroom unaccompanied, not in this restaurant. I do hope they do something about to avoid any...accidents?
Dislike!

Here are other pics. I am definitely going back.

Check it out!
