Crepe Me Out

I cannot decide which I like better; dessert crepes or savory crepes. Nonetheless I really am devoted to both. People of Manila, like me got to know crepes well through Cafe Breton in the 90's. It is still very visible now. In fact I just ate there two month ago.
La Creperie at the Robinsons Galleria is a most welcome addition to our crepe choices.
I like the fact that it is in a mall I am forced to frequent. =-)
love the yellow and teal interiors

Though crepes are not something I can have everyday. it is comforting that we have crepe cafes that we can run to for a hint of French food fix.

H and I were not really hungry but from what we tried the food is good.

They also carry FIC ice-cream which is a family favorite. =-) I can't wait to try their other dishes. =-)

              .....next time!

May the Kingdom Club

While on our Hong Kong Disneyland vacation a few weeks ago, no, we didn't get a fast pass at the park. What we got is even better, access to the Kingdom Club Lounge at the  Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel where we were staying.
More private room with a flat screen
It serves only breakfast and cocktails but the rest of the day there are snacks and treats for everyone.
This was a typical morning at the lounge.
yes, there's yummy Chinese breakfast and xiao long pao! my favorite, next to crispy pata

After cocktails there is story telling and crafts for the kids....

...and milk, cookies and what? candies?
As if it's not enough to get the kids and grownups excited, guess who tip-toes in in his pj's to say goodnight....?
    I guess we're off to dreamland.......Night, Mickey!

For A Good Cause

     I am a disabled person.

I was wearing thick glasses at age 5. I had to always sit at the front row of any classroom. I can't recognize people until they are two to three feet away from me. If I lived in the States, my eye doctor said that I would be considered legally blind. But I managed. I coped. I finished school and I am now an architect, blessed  with a family of my own.

I did not do it alone. I had supportive (sometimes over protective) parents, two loving grandmothers and wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins. In school I always had very considerate teachers, friends who were more than willing to dictate a whole lecture from the blackboard to me . (Caroline,  Leah, Perti, Ritzie, Aileen, Paul, Roselle, Raffy)

Right now my own kids have yet to understand the extent of my disability at the same time know that I wish to be treated like I have always been - normal. I came across this beautiful video produced for a similar advocacy. It reminded me that even as people with disabilities try their hardest to live a normal lives, sometimes they could still need a little hand and understanding.

Let us not miss these opportunities.

A Label Suit

One morning I was horrified to open my chest of drawers and see these.
In the Philippines, we are lucky or are we unlucky to still have house help. The pics above were the work of one of mine. Sometimes we fondly call them house angels. She was not very angelic-looking to me that particular morning so I decided to put matters in my own hands. I need to label these drawers but I refuse to stick labels on this lovely piece of furniture. Then beneath one pile of pillowcases, I saw a stash of old packaging for undergarments. I do not throw them away as they are plastic and I do not know where they will go if I do but hey, lookee here:

(The labels are in Filipino for house angels to understand it better)

So far my chest of drawers have been er ...behaved and looks like it is working......for now.

These are all you need. =-) Zip lock bags will do too.

My Happy Tears Parade

One of the reasons why I love Hong Kong Disneyland is the afternoon parade. For their fifth year, there is a special and new parade called, Flights of Fantasy. We loved it!

I love Disney parades but the one in Hong Kong Disneyland always makes me teary-eyed. Yes, it does. It is for the simple reason that a huge percentage of the parade performers are Filipinos like me. In our language we call them kababayan. I totally adore the men of the marching band.

Their sound, movement, heart and spirit are so familiar and undoubtedly Filipino. It makes me so proud of them that I have to gulp down tears.

Every Filipino I believe can spot a fellow Filipino in that parade or any of the other shows. There is a particular smile, a gesture, a twinkle in the eye - is is us. Sniff!

Keep it up, my dear kababayans! =-)

Here are other pics of the parade....a must see...
