Wanted: MASI for Turning 1

     My favorite nephew #3 turned one this week and my whole family was only too excited to celebrate this. My sister. Ava planned a super fun party. I am beginning to miss kiddie parties since my kids are both teenagers now and it has been ages. There was a time I couldn't get myself to go anymore as we had one almost every weekend and I had nursery rhymes and spaghetti coming out of my ears. I never thought I would actually miss them. Anyhoo, we all had a grand time. Masi, short for Tomas Mari is the youngest member of our family, everyone's baby. 

      My sister was so patient making and sewing little, loving details for the party. With the help of her stylist, it came out so cute. I, on the other hand cannot sew for the life of me.

   There is Masi with my brother and Masi with my sister with photo bomber, Blue. I know I am the best looking in my family. haha!

     While kids were playing games, the grownups feasted on the food carts of Happy Umpauco. Yummy! Love the corn dogs!

  That is my Ate Poten. Ilang balik ka na?

       My favorite cowgirls were my nieces, Sophia and Samara. Sophia was so cute in purple! Adorable Samara, on the other hand followed a different peg...

     The dessert buffet was done by my talented niece, Bianca Huab of OhGoodies! Look how adorbs!

     Kids went home happy with a bandana loot bag filled with toys and candy and their own stick horse.

 

     On this note, let's usher in the Christmas holidays. Waaaaah!!! Pasko na! (It's Christmas!) Allow my family to be the first to greet you....

I π A New Brekky Place

     If there is one thing I love doing, it's checking out new restaurants.I enjoy trying out new dishes and watching how they serve the food, the plating, the plates.... I am no food critique. I just love to eat. Actually I am more critical of how the place looks, feels and smells. I also hate crabby service people...

     Anyhoo, I read about  Breakfast and Pies in the Internet and since it is so near Blue's school, let's go!

     I read it has been opened for a year and is right beside and is owned by the same owners as Pino and Pipino in Malingap Street Sikatuna Village. 

     I do not know which opened first though it does not matter but the interiors remind of Wildflour in way. It's kinda New Yorky- Industrial to me. 

     Service that morning was straightforward and okay but not warm and welcoming or is it the black and white?

          I  ordered the Eggs Benny. I love eggs. This was good but I want the Hollandaise less sweet. But I liked it anyway. Filling and comforting!

This dish was the bomb. Caramelized Spam. H ordered it. I am not a big fan of Spam but this dish elevates it to Hall of fame status for me. Surprise was you eat it with Kimchi. The combination was deadly yummy!

I mean look! H was sweet enough to share with a little grunt! Oink to you too!

Chocolate chip cookie for dessert.....This was okay lang. Yellow bakes better. 

  I am so curious though of their breads..... Next time!

     I told my friend Mayet the next time I get the blues I will go back to this place and eat the Spam dish with passion...Haha!!!! Heard the Wagyu Tapa is good too.

How was YOUR Week?

      I openly complained through my facebook status recently how lonely it is for me to be without a job site. All my projects are either in the bidding stage, mobilization stage prior to actual construction or schematic design stage. leaving me job site- less. Before my mind even wonders about how to compare my current professional state to cliches like a jeepney without a driver or a captain without a ship, I would rather wonder about how the week went and did I live it well?

     My friend and art teacher, Toots is insisting that our class is ready for a show. (Chattering teeth!)  I consider my Saturday art class one of my happy places but the idea of a show is not exactly daunting but HOW? In all trust and faith I look to Toots. Lead the way.....

        The photo above is my first struggling attempt at show worthy skill, I want to call them shoescapes. It looks better than it really is. I am doing this over....for the 5th time!



        That same Saturday, the kids and I finally got to back Homemade Oreo Cookies and they were yummy and so easy to make. =-) Click here for the recipe.

        One of my goals this year is to start cooking again, I have so been out of the kitchen. I did not know where to start? Taking many steps back, I went all the way back to cooking school....and I was back in the kitchen of my teacher Chef Dorothy Ferreria. Dorothy is a generous teacher, She shares all her secrets with her students. ALL! If you are interested in her classes even for your kids this summer. Look here.
     

        We learned to cook Spanish Bacalao and other Lenten dishes. They were all so yummy!

    

       I told myself I will not attend another cooking class unless I try to cook two recipes from the previous class by myself.,,,,Haha! good luck!

         Before long it was Friday and Blue is done with exams and we all turned to his school driveway to be greeted with this glorious sunlight and the heavenly Jesuit music on the background.

   I just got back from Worldbex. It was an interesting show this year. I am excited about some new products. My fave booths are those of UST and UP.

          This oh-so inviting bed reminds me how exhausted i am...Yep, it is 5 in the afternoon on a Friday as I write this and I want to end this week already and sleep early.

   And tomorrow.....is a brand new week. Who says Saturdays are the end of the week? 

   Saturdays are my beginnings....Good night, to a week well-spent! =-)
